Save grizzly bears, lynx, and old trees. Stop the clear-cutting of forests next to Yellowstone!

The United States Forest Service plans to clear-cut more than 5,000 acres of mature lodgepole pine trees on Yellowstone National Park's border in Montana.

This decision will devastate the park's ecosystem and, if not stopped, set a dangerous precedent for logging in our national forests.

U.S. government agencies are expected to quantify the climate impact of their actions under new guidance issued by President Biden's administration at the start of this year. However, the Forest Service announced its decision on March 15 without calculating the cost of the sequestered carbon that would be released under the plan, which includes clear-cutting 5,500 acres of mature lodgepole pine trees and constructing 57 miles of logging roads in the heart of grizzly bear country.

We cannot stand idly by and allow the destruction of such a unique and valuable natural resource.

We need your help to stop this plan in its tracks. Please sign our petition urging the United States Forest Service to halt its plan to log thousands of acres of pine forest.

This logging plan is not only destructive to the environment but also in direct violation of the new guidance issued by the Biden administration, which requires a serious attempt to quantify the climate impact of such plans. Despite this, the Forest Service has concluded without evidence that the climate impact would be small and temporary.

The reality is that the terrible effects of this massive clear-cutting on the environment are well known.

Our national forests hold the country's greatest concentration of mature and old-growth trees, crucial in absorbing and storing carbon dioxide emissions. Not only will the logging disrupt the natural habitat of countless species of plants and animals that call Yellowstone home, but it will also increase carbon emissions and decrease the area's ability to sequester carbon, which is essential for mitigating climate change's effects.

Add your name and demand that the United States Forest Service stop its plan to log thousands of acres of pine trees. We need your support to protect these forests and the natural world they sustain.

Together, we can make a difference and protect our planet for generations to come.
